Scritchy Scratch at the Hidden Door

In the corner of the room something moves. Wireless headphones immerse the audience in the sounds and thoughts of fantastical creatures emerging from behind the Hidden Door. In the darkness, misshapen creatures creep, jump and dance to the choreographic music they create with their own bodies.

Scritchy Scratch is a new 15 minute “Dance Macabre” devised and directed by Symon Macintyre and created by Vision Mechanics for the 2014 Hidden Door Festival, which is taking place 28 March-5 April in the disused vaults, Market Street, Edinburgh.

Puppet maker and performer, Kim Bergsagel, is working with second year Performance Costume students from Edinburgh College of Art, to design and make these weird creatures.

Soundscape artists and musicians, Alex Auld-Smith and Ewan Macintyre, will be using live feedback loops from the puppets’ movements to create the dance.

More info on Scritchy Scratch performance dates/times, tix etc to follow soon.
