An immersive, sensorial performance set in a garden location and accompanied by live soundscape. Dark Matter is a gothic ghost story that takes place in an everyday suburban garden, where the audience, camouflaged in black capes and wearing headphones, sit in the shadows. Filled with anger and uncertainty, it is a poetic story of a young woman awaiting her lover; a tale of sex, grief and loss that takes us to the darkest recesses of the human mind.

Accompanied by atmospheric lighting, this extraordinary sonic performance is a 3D-fusion of sound and text where ambient noise gathered via microphones placed around the garden is fed into the live mix, thus ensuring each performance is unique.

The production was initially created as part of the Northern Scottish Touring Fund programme in 2011 with performances in 10 gardens across the Highlands and Islands. It subsequently had its international premiere at theaterszene europa Scottish-German Theatre Festival in May 2012 at Studiobuhne, Cologne. In 2013 Dark Matter was selected as part of the British Council Edinburgh Showcase, comprising new work that represents the very best of contemporary British theatre and dance. edinburghshowcase.britishcouncil.org
