Lighting Designer Required

Vision Mechanics is currently seeking a freelance Lighting Designer, to work with A Blank Canvas and Jabuti Theatre on their production of In Her Shadows, an exciting dance aerial project touring in Autumn 2015  – more info about In Her Shadows>>>

The Candidate will have experience of a similar role in contemporary dance, theatre or a related industry. The candidate will have experience of delivering projects on budget and making decisions based on budget constraints.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a Lighting Design on Time and on budget and in accordance with the artistic brief.

The design meetings and story boarding and rehearsals will take place in summer 2015.
The work will be based in Edinburgh.

The fee is negotiable and dependable upon the experience of the candidate; the candidate will be employed on a freelance basis and will be responsible for maintaining accounts for Self Assessment and for their own Tax affairs. Reasonable expenses will be reimbursed for pre-agreed costs incurred in the pursuit of the role.

Person Specification: Skills, Knowledge and Experience

The candidate will have experience of professional lighting design in a theatrical setting. It would be desirable if this experience was gained in a contemporary dance setting. The candidate is expected to have full working knowledge of the lighting equipment needed to fulfil the breadth of this role.

Communications skills and Team Work – the candidate will be able to communicate professionally and work well as part of a production team towards the end goal.

The candidate will be passionate about theatre, dance and culture; this passion will be demonstrated by their CV, Portfolio and Covering Letter.
